Onondaga Central
In the first two Principal’s Cabinet meetings of this school year, several main topics were discussed between students, Mr. Stanton, Mr. Ciereck and Miss Sawyer. Student Council sets the agenda for Principal’s Cabinet. Members of the Principal’s Cabinet include Noor Almaliki, Ray Anderson, Caitlin Dankiw, Nicole Dooley, Zach Johnson, Lina Hayes, Ricky Kopp, Emma Kolowosy, Jacob Krell, Lauren Moore, Emmanuel Lammachia, Deshea Lettsome, Evelyn Loan, Allee Mack, Aubrey Mackey, Dylan Price, and Natalie Price. In both December and January, new ideas were proposed but in January, the Principal’s Cabinet had the chance to hear an update regarding December proposals. The first topic was about student’s computer access in school and library availability. One solution proposed was to post a schedule of the library available for the in front of the library or online to allow students to plan their time. In addition, using alternate locations for testing and classes that need to computers was also discussed. The goal of those is to keep the library available since it is many people’s favorite study hall or after-school destination. As most of you already know, Onondaga has a new school website. A student proposed having videos created to help students learn the new features, along with other How-to-Videos like calculating your average. Members of the Principal’s Cabinet also proposed to have teachers update grades in Schooltool weekly so students know where they stand. Another topic discussed is the amount of testing at Onondaga. Lastly, returning a breakfast for students with a 95 or above-average was mentioned. Several years ago students at OCS who had an average that was higher than a 95 for a certain number of marking periods were invited to breakfast in the Spring as a reward for students who were dedicated and excelled. Based on discussions in Principal’s Cabinet, this breakfast will return to the high school in May to reward students with above a 95. This is a great example of a positive change from the Principal’s Cabinet.
